My Blogging Experience
I have got several years not blogging since the appear of Facebook. Before time, I used to do the blogging in Xanga (I think a lot of youngster must be very familar with it too) to share my everyday life and feeling, only friends who have subscribe me can read my posts. Actually I kinda miss that time because those subscribers and who I subscribe are all my good and close friends. Reading others posts is fun and enjoyable because they are actually posting long passage of diary or review or feeling. But somehow it cannot be found in Facebook again I think. Facebook has too much unwanted information actually, though some updates you might really wanna see. But I bet sometimes you might not see hundreds of friends' update which most of them you dont wanna see. So, really thanks this time of blogging that makes me memorize the time we blog before.
Actually I like blogging but unfortunately I really get little time to spend on it after entering the university. Unlike Facebook which just post a simple status stating the moment you thought or share photos and video, everything is just for the moment, blogging is kind of writing and sharing. Apart from writing dairy online, you can share your view on everything. For me, blogging is also a way to build one identity through one's profile and writing content. We can decide what to be shown like profile picture, personal information and the design of blog layout. As a result, personality can be shown. On the other hand, we post our life, our feeling and our comments/critics towards anything we interested in the world. Readers can know more about your life and personal views thru the articles. An identity incoporeally built in the online world.
In this academic blogging experience, I learnt how to do research on internet thru searching engine and hyperlinking to different websites to get more informarion and opinions from other internet users. Of course, gain a lot of knowledge and bonus news and information thru hyperlinking. LOL. Besides, during blogging I can learn how to represent things multimodally such as present information with other elemests like graphics, video, sound to draw readers' attention and have more immediate effect. However, the biggest part I have learnt is from interactivity with other bloggers. Blogging is really a good place to exchange knowledge and know one's point of view. I absorb a lot of knowledge from others' writing which not restricting the thing I wrote. For example, I also understand how Antony's view on Facebook and how Joanne defense on online reading which some I have never thought of. Of course, I do have my comments on related issues. In this stage, commenting, participating and exchanging of knowledge are reached.
Here are the comments I have made :)

Are Smartphones Killing Our Conversation?
As I have stated in my previous article that innovations has changed our life. Although these innovations are amazing pieces of technology, they are beginning to have negative impacts on the way society integrates with itself. Smartphone is a great example for us to take a deeper look on that. Take a look at our everyday life. It is common to see almost every people has a smartphone on hands. And according to eMarketer in March 2010 – There are 650 million people globally who are now using their smartphones more and more for tasks such as email and social networking and it found that 70 per cent of smartphone users have accessed email and 43 per cent have accessed social networks via their devices.
The above photo is also a common scene we can see in public transports nowadays. Everybody is buried in their phones to check email, send text messages, listen to music, surf internet etc. A small device can help you connect with the world instantly but can also make you isolate to the society at the same time if we continue down the road of smartphone addiction.
Smartphones are undoubtedly one of the best pieces of technology that have been developed over the last couple of years. Its amazing that a piece of equipment relatively small in size, can be so powerful. It not only acts as a telephone but also as a mobile internet, a games console and with the addition of an imense number of apps. To apps which you can use as a multi-functional camera, as a messager, as a GPS, as a universal translator or to check your emails on the go. Huge and different functions can be performed by smartphone because of these apps.
The smartphone, with its links to the social networking sites of today, allows you to see what friends are up to instantly. You can express your status right away, chat and catch up with your friends at any moment, check in at various different places and upload photos straight to you facebook page. Consequencely, the instant link to social world has changed our social habbit.
I've started to notice more and more the number of times you walk down the street and all you see are people, head down, smartphone in hand, playing around with it, actually I'm one of them. The instant social networking makes you check or interact at any moment. It's like a drug that if you don't check it for a long time you will feel uncomfortable and insecure because for a long being you have been used to keep up-to-dated to each others to keep yourself away from alone and isolated to the world thru smartphone. Therefore, smartphone has become one's everyday life. People gradually spend more and more time in the virtual social world in smartphone to communicate with others rather than in the real world. Here are some real cases from the internet user.
created by survey_says on 22/08/2011
From the above cases, we could see how smartphone kills our conversation now. People now used to use smartphone to play games or apps to kill time and browse Facebook or text message to catch up with friends. But sometimes we do it while we are in a friend or family gathering. Isn't it wry? We want to stay in touch with friends thru online social tools but at the same time neglecting them in the real world. This is totally an unhealthy phenomenon. If it keeps going, our society so as our relationship would gradually become isolated.
Smartphones are great pieces of technology, but in certain situations people should make a concious effort to turn the phone off and talk to one another. If we don't, we run the risk of becoming a very introverted society where conversation becomes less and less of a common occurance. The social impact of the smartphone can be profound and over our imagination.

"I sat with some friends the other day and became increasingly annoyed with them because they kept their heads down and fiddled and messed about with their smartphones. It felt like they weren't even interested in chatting. I felt quite annoyed and sad afterwards. Granted my conversational skills can sometimes be a tad dreary but I would expect some common decency. Are smartphones killing conversation?"

"if i went out with a group of friends i would find it very rude for them all to be sat there on there phones, if i am with someone i never get my phone out as its rude. i recently went out with my inlaws :/ there was me my other half, my mother in law, father in law, 2 brother in laws and my sister in law after the waitress had took our order and we were all waiting for our meals to be prepared literally everyone around the table was sat there on there phones, it was totally silent. i was really quite bemused. i found it really rude and was quite uncomfortable, i got up and went to the toilet and came back and i dont even think one of them realised i had even left the table! i just felt like screaming to them will you put your bloody phones away! if it was my family and someone got there phone out it would be put your phone away its bad manners."

Innovations change our life.
Look what is at our hands and what we do everyday! Smart phone, computer, facebook, email, youtube ... blahblahblah~~~~Think about how our life habit changes because of the continuous innovation of the new media. And these new media are like invisible air penetrating into our life in which we cannot live without it sometimes.
Nearly everybody get a smart phone now. Before the age of smart phone, we could only use cell phone for calls and simple text message or some even can play mini games like "Snake" which I liked to play very much when I first owned a phone. But now, smart phone is a high-end small portable device conbining the functions of different media like PDA,mobile phone, media player and camera. I would say the smart phones nowadays are portable mini computer to us! We can perform a lot of functions like a laptop does like web browsing,e-mail, playing movie and music, e-books and magazine,multi-media messaging, great variety of games etc. Smart phone is really a big technological change. Its all-in-one feature has changed people from multi-device tasking into one! And now we communicate with each other in a brand-new way!

What elses do you think of any new innovations of media has changed our life??? :D

My Digital Life
The moving forward information and communication techonologies has shaping our every day life. I have changing my social online tools from ICQ to Msn to Facebook till now within 10 years. Facebook is not only a platform for you to chat with friends, it is a place where you can check out the life of your friends in their sharing and of course, you can share your life too.
I treat myself as a frequent Facebook user or Facebook addict haha! Everytime I open the internet browser, Facebook is like a must go website and almost a homepage to me. It just doesn't feel alright if you open browser without clicking into Facebook. Facebook is like a drug that you need it to keep up-to-date to the social world, without it you just feel insecure and comfortable. Hahaaaa , I know it's not healthy in web habbit. I think Facebook has responsibility to open some Facebook Addiction Treatment Centre?
Btw, here is a website I love most. It is a website showing different kinds of advertisements from the world. I could find a lot of amazing and interesting ads right there, giving me inspirition and ideas. If you interested, do click and have a look! ;)
